Inside the blue house
Shadowed between the walls of yellow
A home becomes ours
Behind and within old, broken furniture
The pieces discolored and worn
Our lives settle into the new
The house
Aging slowly in her 60+ years, holds me in her arms
She protects me from the strange, the old, the young
Our house consumes my energies and tells me I have a job:
The grass, the leaves, the flowers, the trees
And the dog, her pride and adoration greeting me at the gate
The cat, his yawn and stretch from behind the window
My love;
We bring such desire to this block
You and I are in our garden best
My hair in hat, your sunglasses still to be found
And we work
With love in our hearts
We do for the house as we do for each other
